Doha, Sha'aban 24, 1436 AH, June 10, 2015, SPA -- The Information Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States issued a statement following their 23rd meeting held in Doha yesterday. The statement said that the ministers reviewed the latest developments at the Gulf arena and what is going through the region of security and intellectual repercussions represented in terrorist attacks and the attempt of suspicious parties to disseminate takfiri (expiatory) and deviant thoughts among the young people of the Council and the attempt to mislead them through different means of communication. The Ministers of information confirmed the GCC firm positions on renunciation of terrorism and extremism in all their forms and manifestations, whatever may be their motives, justifications, and source, and the commitment of all media devices in the GCC countries to fight the fascist ideology feeding the terrorist groups. They stressed that tolerance and coexistence among nations and peoples are of the foundations of internal and external policies of the GCC states, their cultural heritage and original values, stressing the need that the media in the GCC States shall shoulder the responsibility to address firmly and with determination and acumen the suspicious messages that are aimed at destabilizing the security from abroad and the national fabric from inside, which holds the media discourse of the GCC states the responsibility for dealing with the available information accurately, speedily and high professionalism. --More 14:44 LOCAL TIME 11:44 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
