The Kingdom hosts meeting on marine protected areas

Jeddah, Safar 19, 1437, December 01, 2015, SPA -- Prince Bandar bin Saud bin Mohammed, President of Saudi Wildlife Commission chaired yesterday the 4th meeting of the partnership of the agencies concerned with marine protected areas being hosted by the Kingdom in Jeddah with the participation of representatives from government agencies concerned with marine protected areas of Australia, Canada, the United States of America, France, Mexico and Chile in addition to the participation of specialists from the International Union for Conservation of Nature and some of relevant national agencies. The Prince said that the Kingdom's hosting of this meeting highlights its attention to the conservation of wildlife and its natural environments in land and sea, noting that the meeting will discuss the recommendations of the 21st Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate which addresses the impact of the climate change on marine environments and preparing proposals for decisions relating to the oceans for submission to the World Conference for conservation in Hawaii (2016), in addition to the provision of international network of marine protected areas in 2020 and setting the agenda for the tent (PAVILION) for marine matters in Hawaii, as well as discussing the participation in the organization of the 4th Conference of marine protected marine areas to be held in Chile in 2017. --SPA 14:38 LOCAL TIME 11:38 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
