London, Safar 05, 1437, November 17, 2015, SPA -- Political parties in Northern Ireland said they had resolved a power-sharing crisis on Tuesday after 10 weeks of talks backed by the British and Irish governments, dpa reported. "This package has rightly been driven by Northern Ireland's political leaders. I pay tribute to their work and leadership," said Theresa Villiers, Britain's secretary of state for Northern Ireland. Charlie Flanagan, Ireland's foreign minister, said it was "another milestone agreement moving Northern Ireland towards a better future," while British Prime Minister David Cameron hailed it as a "turning point." "It was a difficult and challenging process and involved hundreds of hours of meetings," Flanagan said. "The agreement commits the parties to a strategy to end paramilitary groups, and establish a cross-border agency for organized crime. However, through the immense efforts of the parties and the two governments, I am very pleased that we have succeeded in reaching a positive outcome," he said. The crisis had been sparked partly by a dispute over the continued existence of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and its alleged links to Irish nationalist party Sinn Fein. --SPA 22:31 LOCAL TIME 19:31 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
