Cape Canaveral, Rabi'II 21, 1436, February 10, 2015, SPA -- Rainy weather in Florida forced SpaceX to postpone to Tuesday its planned launch of a $340 million sun-observing spacecraft, followed by an effort to reuse its Falcon 9 rocket. “Teams will target launch on Tuesday with a backup of Wednesday as weather is more favorable on both of those days,” SpaceX said in a statement on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) website. The unmanned Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) is scheduled to launch atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on Tuesday from Cape Canaveral, Florida at 2305 GMT. The backup is set for Wednesday at 2303 GMT. A launch attempt Sunday was canceled after U.S. Air Force radar experienced technical problems. DSCOVR’s goal is to help space weather forecasters by collecting data on solar wind and geomagnetic storms that can damage electrical systems on Earth. --SPA 12:29 LOCAL TIME 09:29 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
