Washington, Rajab 21 1436 AH, May10 2015, SPA -- An explosion and fire at a nuclear power plant in New York on Saturday caused a shutdown of one of three units at the facility, dpa reported. The fire broke out in a transformer and was extinguished by the sprinkler system, Jerry Nappi, a spokesman for the plant's operator, Entergy Corporation, told the local CBS affiliate. Entergy said on Twitter the shutdown followed a transformer failure "outside of nuclear side of plant," adding that there was no danger to public health and safety. The power plant is in Buchanan, New York, about 70 kilometres north of New York City. --SPA 11:41 LOCAL TIME 08:41 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
