Kuala Lumpur, Ramadan 28, 1435, July 25, 2014, SPA -- At least three people were killed when a boat ferrying undocumented Indonesians sank off southern Malaysia, a local maritime official said Friday, according to dpa. The bodies of the victims were recovered a few hours after the boat went down Thursday off Tanjung Ketapang town in the state of Johor, according to Iskandar Ishak, a district maritime commander. Thirteen other people were rescued in the accident, including the boat's skipper, Iskandar said. The accident was the fourth involving boats carrying undocumented Indonesian workers since June. At least 27 people were killed in the three previous sinkings. In the latest accident, the boat was believed to be carrying a total of 28 people when it capsized after it was battered by large waves. --SPA 12:38 LOCAL TIME 09:38 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
