Kathmandu, Shawwal 21, 1435, August 17, 2014, SPA -- At least 84 people were killed in monsoon flooding over the last four days in Nepal, the government said Sunday, according to dpa. Home Ministry spokesman Laxmi Prasad Dhakal said 113 were feared missing in different parts of the country. The southern plains region has been ravaged by monsoon rains causing floods in several districts and landslides in some places. The ministry said more than 10,000 people had been displaced. Local media showed footage of survivors awaiting rescue on rooftops in waterlogged villages. Major highways have been blocked due to flooding and mudslides, while several bridges were watched away. Last month, 33 people were killed and 156 left unaccounted for, after heavy rainfall caused a landslide that blocked the Sunkoshi River and buried villagers in the central region. --SPA 10:51 LOCAL TIME 07:51 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
