Kigali, Shawwal 15, 1435, August 11, 2014, SPA -- Rwanda placed a German student with Ebola-like symptoms in isolation, the health ministry said on Monday, as the outbreak spreads through West Africa, dpa reported. The student, who had recently spent time in Liberia, where Ebola has caused the deaths of 294 people, is Rwanda's first suspected Ebola case, Health Minister Agnes Binagwaho said on Twitter. Samples had been sent to "an international, accredited laboratory" according to Binagwaho. The patient, who had a fever and malaria, had been quarantined at King Faisal Hospital in the capital, Kigali, for "100 per cent security," the minister said. In Nigeria, two more people have been infected with Ebola, the authorities say, bringing the total number of cases there to nine. All the patients are in hospital in Lagos, Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu said late on Sunday. Two people have died of Ebola in Nigeria. --SPA 12:18 LOCAL TIME 09:18 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
