Kiev, Jumada I 20, 1436, Mar 11, 2015, SPA -- Ukraine needs more than 40 billion dollars in financial aid to keep its economy afloat, President Petro Poroshenko said Wednesday. "The whole package that is being prepared to help Ukraine .. today must exceed 40 billion dollars," Poroshenko said after a meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven in Kiev, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reported. According to dpa, he added that the money will be enough if Ukraine works on achieving reforms to attract foreign investment and fight corruption. "I am convinced that this will be done fast and effectively," he said. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said last month that Ukraine should get international aid worth 40 billion dollars over the coming four years. However, only some 25 billion dollars have been secured. The IMF is expected to make a decision about a 17.5 billion dollar loan for Kiev later on Wednesday. --SPA 17:16 LOCAL TIME 14:16 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
