New York, Ramadan 3, 1435, Jul 1, 2014, SPA -- The United Nations on Tuesday urged Israelis and Palestinians to exercise restraint after tensions rose following Monday’s discovery in Hebron of the bodies of three Israeli teenagers, who had been missing since June 12. U.N. Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Robert Serry issued a statement urging Israelis and Palestinians to prevent the situation from worsening. “Any association with or support for terror or violence must be rejected and will have consequences for those concerned,” Serry said. The Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) said a Palestinian teenager was killed overnight by Israeli forces, amounting to seven Palestinians killed since June 12. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed hope, “that Israeli and Palestinian authorities will work together to bring the perpetrators to justice.” The U.N. Children’s Fund (UNICEF) also issued a statement saying that, “this latest act of violence is a tragic and terrible reminder of the toll that senseless hatred is taking on both Israeli and Palestinian children.” --SPA 23:55 LOCAL TIME 20:55 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
