Washington, Sha'ban 15, 1435, Jun 13, 2014, SPA -- The United States on Thursday expressed deep concerns over the deteriorating security situation and the humanitarian crisis in Iraq. "The International Organization for Migration estimates the number of people displaced by the violence in Mosul and surrounding areas in recent days may have reached 500,000," State Department spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki told reporters. "We are announcing today an additional $12.8 million to international organization partners working to meet the needs of internally displaced persons and conflict victims in Iraq," Psaki said, adding that the assistance will supply food, shelter, and medicine for displaced persons and urging other donors to help meet the critical needs. --SPA 12:34 LOCAL TIME 09:34 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
