Riyadh, Sha'ban 12, 1435, Jun 10, 2014, SPA -- Official Spokesman of the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Abduljabbar has highlighted the Social Insurance Scheme's rules for registering Saudi workers who attain the age of 60. Al-Abduljabbar stated that "The Social Insurance Law excludes the Saudi worker from being subject to the Annuities Branch if he attains the age of 60 and has not been registered with the Social Insurance Scheme. In such a case, the Saudi worker should be subject compulsorily to the Occupational Hazard Branch." "If the Saudi worker had a contribution period not qualifying him to receive a pension and was re-employed in the private sector after attaining the age of 60, he should be subject to both the Annuities Branch and the Occupational Hazard Branch," Al-Abduljabbar said. Regarding the Saudi pensioner re-engaging in an employment, Al-Abduljabbar said that "If the Saudi pensioner did not attain the age of 60, he should be subject compulsorily to the Annuities Branch and the Occupational Hazard Branch. In such a case, his pension should be ceased. If he attained the age of 60-64, he should be subject compulsorily to the Occupational Hazard Branch. In such a case, he has the right to choose to whether to pay contributions under the Annuities Branch or not. In case he chooses to pay contributions under the Annuities Branch and later left employment, his pension should be resettled by adding the new contribution period. If he attained the age of 65 or over, he should be subject only to the Occupational Hazard Branch and would continue receiving his pension." Currently, more than 1,670,000 Saudi contributors are registered with the Annuities Branch. --SPA 19:50 LOCAL TIME 16:50 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
