Kabul, Afghanistan, Sha'ban 9, 1435, Jun 7, 2014, SPA -- At least 50 people were feared dead in Afghanistan on Saturday after a flood raged through a northern district during heavy rain, an official said, according to dpa. "A flash flood swept Guzargah-e-Nur district Friday evening, damaged hundreds of houses in more than five villages," said Mahmood Haqmal, spokesman for the Baghlan provincial governor. "Our reports say that about 50 people including women have found dead and the casualties fear an increase," Haqmal said. Rescue teams were dispatched to the area to help survivors, he said Afghanistan's northern and central areas suffer heavy rainfall in the spring. At least 2,100 people went missing last month after a mudslide buried the village of Ab-e-Barik in Badakhshan province. --SPA 11:11 LOCAL TIME 08:11 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
