Washington, Ramadan 21, 1435, Jul 18, 2014, SPA -- A new federal earthquake risk map released on Thursday showed that half of the United States may experience an increase in earthquakes while nearly a quarter of the nation will have a decreased risk. The U.S. Geologic Survey updated its national seismic hazard maps since 2008, with information regarding the 2011 earthquake and tsunami off the Japanese coast, and the 2011 earthquake in Virginia. Project chief Mark Petersen reported in the survey that the states near the west coast and the east coast will have the highest risk of earthquakes. --SPA 13:10 LOCAL TIME 10:10 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
