Beijing, Ramadan 26, 1435, Jul 23, 2014, SPA -- Typhoon Matmo brought rainstorms to south-eastern China and nearby Taiwan on Wednesday, but there were no immediate reports of deaths as the typhoon weakened into a tropical storm, dpa reported. Chinese state media showed pictures of flooding from torrential rain and uprooted trees in the south-eastern province of Fujian, where Matmo hit land. The storm had left at least 13 people injured as it swept across Taiwan, the Central Emergency Operations Center said. The Taiwan Power Co said 366,320 households had lost access to electricity supplies and 108,233 households remained without power by mid-morning. Taiwan's Defence Ministry said 1,100 soldiers had helped to evacuate more than 1,600 people. Matmo is the 10th typhoon to hit southern China this year. --SPA 14:04 LOCAL TIME 11:04 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
