United Nations, Rabi'II 16, 1436, Feb 5, 2015, SPA -- Global food prices continue to fall, helped by a weak euro currency and the low cost of crude oil, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported Thursday. The agency’s monthly food-price index averaged 182.7 points in January, down 1.9 percent from its December level. Overall, the index has mostly declined since April 2014. The drop in January was helped by “robust inventories” as well as continued strength in the U.S. dollar and weak global oil prices, the FAO said. --SPA 21:45 LOCAL TIME 18:45 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
