Washington, Muharram 11, 1436, Nov 4, 2014, SPA -- The New York City fire department (FDNY) said Tuesday that its computer-aided 911 emergency dispatch system was down for nearly two hours. According to FDNY, the system was down from about 2:15 p.m. to 4:05 p.m. local time Monday. FDNY officials said that dispatchers worked manually to handle almost 600 calls during the outage and sent out emergency crews by radio. FDNY said that additional staffers assisted with the calls. It was not immediately known what caused the outage. --SPA 23:23 LOCAL TIME 20:23 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
