Washington, Dhu-AlQa'dah 09, 1435, September 04, 2014, SPA -- A U.S. Navy ship is heading into the Black Sea on Wednesday, a 6th Fleet release said, to “promote peace and stability” in the region as tensions increase between Russia and Ukraine. The guided-missile destroyer Ross and the French ship Commandant Birot will be on patrol. The ships are arriving after the exit of the cruiser Vella Gulf, which is making its way back to Norfolk, Virginia. “Ross’ presence in the Black Sea serves to demonstrate the United States’ commitment to strengthening the collective security of NATO allies and partners in the region,” the 6th Fleet release said. --SPA 12:21 LOCAL TIME 09:21 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
