New York, Sha'ban 1, 1435, May 30, 2014, SPA -- Hilde Johnson, head of the UN peacekeeping mission to South Sudan, will leave her post in July when her three-year term ends, a spokesman for the United Nations said Friday, according to dpa. The announcement comes as the UN Security Council decided to change the mandate of the peacekeeping mission to focus on the protection of civilians and monitoring of human rights after ethnic fighting broke out in the country in December. She was appointed in July 2011 after the UN Security Council established the mission to help the newly-independent South Sudan consolidate peace and create conditions for economic and democratic development. -- SPA 22:23 LOCAL TIME 19:23 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
