Madinah, Sha'ban 11, 1435, Jun 9, 2014, SPA -- The construction works are continuing at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah to be one of the most important ports of arrival and departure of pilgrims from abroad, whose numbers are increasing steadily year after year. The official spokesman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation Khalid Abdullah Al-Khaybari pointed out in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the main objective of the overall expansion at the airport is to develop a second gate next to King Abdulaziz International Airport, considering the new international airport as a vivid example embodying the partnership between the public and private sectors, noting that the capacity of the airport will increase to 8 million passengers per year as a first stage. Taibah Company for Airports Development started the construction works at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport on an area of more than 4 million square meters on June 30, 2012 AD, and the airport will be ready at the end of the first quarter of 2015. --SPA 11:20 LOCAL TIME 08:20 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
