New York, Ramadan 16, 1435, July 13, 2014, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Chairman of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Group, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Mo'allemi has said that the press statement issued by the Security Council on the situation in Gaza and Israel does not live up to the expectations of the organization and its members as it did not include a direct condemnation of the Israeli aggression and did not mention the OIC demand of the necessity for the formation of a neutral committee of inquiry to look into the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people, especially the assassination of Martyr Mohammed Abu Khudair. He noted that the OIC also called for providing wide international protection for Palestinians, describing the statement of the Security Council as a first step, and expressing hope that Israel responds to the call of the international community to stop the military operations and continuing attacks against Gaza. Ambassador Al-Mo’allemi told reporters in New York that the failure to achieve this will push the organization to go back again to the Security Council to demand for more effective measures in this regard. --SPA 11:57 LOCAL TIME 08:57 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
