Washington, Ramadan 7, 1435, Jul 4, 2014, SPA -- Hurricane Arthur made landfall in the US state of North Carolina late Thursday, but was expected to move out to sea and weaken within 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service's National Hurricane Center (NHC). The NHC reported landfall at about 11:15 pm (0315 GMT Friday), between Cape Lookout and Beaufort, with wind gusts of up to 163 kilometers per hour. There were hurricane warnings for coastal regions of North Carolina. However, Arthur was expected to quickly lose strength and get downgraded to a tropical storm either later Friday or Saturday. The NHC forecast it would move back out to sea, moving along the New England coast, dpa reported. Nonetheless, evacuations were reported in the affected regions. --SPA 13:13 LOCAL TIME 10:13 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
