Islamabad, Sha'ban 3, 1435, Jun 1, 2014, SPA -- Pakistani police on Sunday launched a major manhunt in two provinces to recover a parliamentarian kidnapped by gunmen for ransom, officials said, according to dpa. Rana Jamil Hassan, a member of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League, was kidnapped on Saturday while traveling from eastern Lahore city to capital Islamabad with his wife. Masked men armed with guns pulled Khan and his wife out of their car near Sargodha city, bundled them into another vehicle and drove away, police official Muhammad Ashraf said. They later abandoned the MP's wife near Islamabad, threatening to kill her husband if she did not arrange a ransom of 50 million rupees (ca 500,000 dollars) in three days, Ashraf said. --SPA 15:54 LOCAL TIME 12:54 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
