Geneva, Sha'ban 07, 1435, June 05, 2014, SPA -- The Red Cross said Thursday that it has stopped its activities in Libya for the time being after a Swiss Red Cross official was shot dead in the Libyan city of Sirte. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) employs 30 international staff and 150 locals in the restive North African country, aiding detainees as well as those injured or displaced by the violence. The ICRC would not withdraw from Libya for good, spokesman David-Pierre Marquet was quoted as saying by Swiss news agency. "We don't plan to leave the country, in which we are needed," he said. Swiss Red Cross delegate Michael Greub was shot in his unmarked car by unknown attackers in the coastal city of Sirte. -- SPA 20:03 LOCAL TIME 17:03 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
