RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman marked the Kingdom’s Founding Day by underscoring the long and rich history of the nation. King Salman said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia “remembers with pride the Foundation Day which reflects 3 centuries of the establishment of this state in 1727 AD - 1139 AH.” King Salman congratulated Saudis on the occasion of the Founding Day in a tweet on his official account on Wednesday. “We experienced various challenges, and we overcame all crises,” he added. He stressed that cohesion and stability was the basis that embodies the deep-roots of this country and its people. Saudi Arabia marked its second Founding Day celebrations with events, activities and a four-day holiday. Founding Day — celebrated on Feb. 22 to commemorate the country’s founding by Imam Mohammed Bin Saud — was declared a national holiday last year following a royal decree by King Salman. Cultural and artistic events are taking place across the Kingdom. Several authorities have prepared a raft of cultural activities and events to mark the celebration of the Founding Day. There will be diverse innovative and creative programs that reflect the achievements of the people of the Saudi state since its foundation at the hands of Imam Muhammad Bin Saud in 1727 AD and until today. Through these events, the Ministry of Culture seeks to present the story of the Founding Day in a creative template through which it commemorates the founding of the first Saudi state, leading to the nation’s unification, realized by King Abdul Aziz as well as the achievements made by his sons, the kings who succeeded him, up to the prosperous era of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman.
