KSRelief Improves Access to Drinking Water and Sanitation in Most Needy Areas of Somalia

Mogadishu, December 29, 2018, SPA -- The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has improved access to drinking water, personal use and sanitation in the neediest areas of Somalia with a value of US $ 2 million, benefiting 60,000 people, in cooperation with the Norwegian Refugee Council. The Center worked to secure drinking water sources and personal use in the neediest areas of Somalia by digging six water wells at a depth of 250 meters, implementing extensions for water pipelines and setting up 6 solar pumps to ensure access to water in suitable quantities due to dry areas. The Center also maintained 4 water wells by providing 4 solar pumps with repairing the necessary connections, checking the water at different intervals to ensure the quality of the water before reaching the targets, and securing 10 water tanks for each well capacity of 50 thousand liters. The Center also improved access to sanitation, hygiene by establishing 600 toilets, promoting hygiene by distributing 4,880 hygiene. The Center also trained and educated 100 trainees in various activities in the targeted areas.
