Jeddah, Sha'ban 8, 1439, Apr 24, 2018, SPA -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its active institutions seek to develop a policy and action plan for the elderly people' well-being in the Muslim world, as the member states recognize that the efforts on the issues of elderly people in these countries are still limited. In a speech delivered on behalf of OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen by OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs Hesham Youssef, the OIC Secretary General said that this workshop, organized by the General Secretariat in cooperation with Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) seeks to discuss ways of achieving the well-being of elderly people, and to ensure that their welfare and dignity are respected and appreciated for what they have done in nation-building. It is worth mentioning that the two-day workshop will review the experiences of member states as well as international and regional institutions to promote policies aimed at ensuring the well-being and care of elderly people. --SPA 16:38 LOCAL TIME 13:38 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w676276
