GCC Secretary General calls on International Community to Confront Houthi Terrorism

Riyadh, January 18, 2022, SPA --Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for the Arab States Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf has renewed his call to the international community to confront Houthi terrorism that obstructs all international efforts aimed at resolving the Yemeni crisis, according to the three references: the GCC Initiative, its executive mechanism, the outputs of the Comprehensive National Dialogue and the Security Council resolution No. 2216 Dr. Al-Hajraf made the remarks today while receiving UN Special Envoy of the Secretary-General in Yemen Hans Grundberg, today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh. The Secretary General affirmed the support of the GCC for the efforts of the UN envoy and the UN efforts towards advancing the political track to resolve the Yemeni crisis, calling on the international community to exert more pressure on the Houthi militia, to engage seriously in the peace process to resolve the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the three references. He also expressed his strong condemnation of the continued targeting of civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with missiles and drones, as well as the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted Abu Dhabi International Airport yesterday which represents a flagrant violation of international law and a threat to the security and stability of the region, as this requires the terrorists to be held accountable in accordance with international Humanitarian law. --SPA 16:39 LOCAL TIME 13:39 GMT 0029 www.spa.gov.sa/w1679958
