OIC Welcomes US President’s Statements Regarding Removing Sudan From List of States Sponsoring Terrorism

Jeddah, October 20, 2020, SPA -- Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen has welcomed the statements of US President Donald Trump regarding the removal of Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, describing the statements as an important step for the future of Sudan. Al-Othiameen said that the decision comes within the framework of the efforts made by the transitional government to restore Sudan to its normal relations with the international community, after a long period of suffering due to listing Sudan among countries sponsoring terrorism, expressing his great satisfaction with this long-awaited decision, affirming the OIC's full support to the government of Sudan and its efforts aimed at achieving stability, development and prosperity for its honorable people.
