Washington, April 22, 2019, SPA -- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed here today that Iran is using oil revenues to support terrorism and that as much as 40 percent of the Iranian regime's income comes from oil exports. USA will not offer any additional grace exemptions related to Iran' oil importers, after May 1, Pompeo told a press conference, at the US State Department, stressing that Iran was responsible for the humanitarian situation, in Yemen, and warned Tehran against attacking US interests. The US announcement today is a major success in its campaign to press in a calibrated manner that meets our national security goals while maintaining well-equipped global oil market's needs, he said, adding that: together with our allies and partners as we have had intensive and fruitful discussions with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other key oil producers, we have agreed to ease this transition and ensure adequate supply to the market, in order that energy markets will remain good, at supply front. Today's announcement depends on the great successes already achieved by the US sanctions campaign, which will continue to exert maximum pressure on the Iranian regime until its leaders change their destructive behavior, respect the rights of the Iranian people and return to the negotiating table, he concluded. -- SPA 19:53 LOCAL TIME 16:53 GMT 0026 www.spa.gov.sa/w1089904
