Buenos Aires, Dec 17, 2020, SPA -- Some 7.04 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in Brazil, dpa cited the country's Health Ministry as announcing. On Wednesday, Latin America's largest country recorded 70,574 new infections in the past 24 hours, the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic. Until now, 183,735 people have died in Brazil in connection to the virus. Brazil ranks third in terms of infection numbers globally, behind the United States and India. On fatalities, Brazil ranks second behind the US. The government under President Jair Bolsonaro has opposed hard measures to contain the spread of the virus.
