Washington, Muharram 2, 1440, Sep 12, 2018, SPA -- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Wednesday that the United States' administration has certified to the U.S. Congress that coalition partners, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), are acting to reduce risks to civilians from their military operations in Yemen. In a statement, Pompeo said that the two countries are undertaking demonstrable actions to reduce the risk of harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure resulting from military operations of these governments. "Pursuant to Section 1290 of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 (NDAA), I certified to Congress yesterday that the governments of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates are undertaking demonstrable actions to reduce the risk of harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure resulting from military operations of these governments," he said, adding that the President Trump administration “ clearly stated that ending the conflict in Yemen is a national security priority.
