GCC and U.S. joint task group holds meeting

Riyadh, Muharram 21, 1437, Nov 3, 2015, SPA -- The joint task group between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the United States of America held a meeting at the headquarters of the GCC in Riyadh today. In a statement following the meeting, Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Owaishiq, Assistant Secretary General of the GCC for political affairs and negotiations, said the two sides discussed ways of supporting the current joint cooperation between them, particularly as regards the preservation of peace and security in the region and enhancing stability in it. The interference of Iran in the domestic affairs of the region's countries, its support for terrorist and extremist organizations as well as the anticipated results of implementing the arrangement on the Iranian nuclear program reached by the 5+1 group were also discussed. He pointed out that the group is one of several task groups in charge of the strategic partnership between the GCC and the U.S. which were announced during the summit between the GCC leaders and U.S. President Barack Obama in Camp David on 14 May 2015. --SPA 22:19 LOCAL TIME 19:19 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
