Rabat, April 28, 2020, SPA -- Alwaleed Philanthropies Foundation, headed by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, has appropriated $2.3 million in support of humanitarian projects initiated by Rabat-based Islamic, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) to assist a number of African countries to combat the spread of COVID-19 and prevent its current and future repercussions, it was reported here today. In a statement, ISESCO said the organization, using Alwaleed Philanthropies Foundation's donation, aims to enhance the capacities of each of Sudan, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Nigeria, Mauritania, and Cote d'Ivoire to produce sterilizers, masks and industrial respiratory devices as part of the African countries' fight against Coronavirus epidemic. To mark the occasion, Dr. Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, Director General of ISESCO, expressed thanks to and appreciation of Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz for his generosity and continuous support for a number of international and regional partners to confront the spread of COVID-19, citing Alwaleed charity's recent donation of $30 million for a host of initiatives around the word to fight COVID-19, out of which $2.3 m. goes to ISESCO anti-COVID-19 program in Africa. --SPA 21:40 LOCAL TIME 18:40 GMT 0024 www.spa.gov.sa/w1317530
