Kabul, May 24, 2020, SPA -- United States special envoy to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad welcomed the ceasefire reached between the Afghan government and Taliban during days of the blessed Eid Al-Fitr. Khalilzad pointed out that Coronavirus reflected a special difficulty for Afghans in light of the escalating violence, adding that despite the continued difficult challenges on both sides, I believe that the challenges will be overcome, as long as the leaders of all parties made the right decisions and made the interests of their people a priority for them. He explained that this development represents an opportunity to accelerate the peace process.
