Riyadh, March 30, 2020, SPA -- President of the Human Rights Commission (HRC) Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al Awwad expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for issuing a royal order guaranteeing free medical treatment in all public and private health facilities to citizens, resident expatriates, and illegal residents with Coronavirus. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr. Al Awwad noted the gesture reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and moral approach to this pandemic and its commitment to ensuring that patients receive the necessary treatment at the highest medical standards without discrimination. Describing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ royal order as a move that sets one of the finest examples of protecting human rights and dignity, Dr. Al The HRC President said it makes the health and safety of citizens and expatriate residents both a goal and a top priority. The order further covers illegal residents, which clearly demonstrates a Saudi doctrine of respect for and advancement of human rights by taking actual steps on the ground. It further demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s belief that nothing is more precious than the people living on its soil and that, as a nation, it shall ensure their right to live with dignity, not the least of which is the right to healthcare. --SPA 19:15 LOCAL TIME 16:15 GMT 0026 www.spa.gov.sa/w1297866
