Riyadh, Muharram 18, 1440, Sep 28, 2018, SPA -- The British boxer Callum Smith ended fellow Briton George Groves' 16-month reign as WBA world super-middleweight champion and won the World Boxing Super Series final with a stunning seventh-round knockout of the 12 rounds in their contest held today at King Abdullah Sports City Sports Hall in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Smith, 28, landed a left hook to hurt Groves, who hung on until a body shot finally floored him. As 30-year-old Groves shook his head, the new champion dropped to his knees in Jeddah. The major international event was organized by Saudi Arabian's General Sport Authority based on the agreement signed in London's British capital last year by its Chairman of the Board of Directors Turki bin Abdul Mohsen Al Al-Sheikh with the company "Comosa", the organizers of the tournament. The winner was awarded the tournament's trophy by Rashida, daughter of the late boxer Mohammed Ali Clay. The international event has attracted a large audience and a tremendous world and domestic media coverage. --SPA 03:32 LOCAL TIME 00:32 GMT 0028 www.spa.gov.sa/w757517
