Cairo, Muharram 01, 1440, September 11, 2018, SPA -- Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen on the unity, stability and security of Yemen and its brotherly people, stressing that the Kingdom has provided all the humanitarian assistance needed by the Yemeni people. In a press statement on the sidelines of the 150th session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level held in Cairo today, he said, "The meeting emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian issue for the Arab world and the importance of reaching a peaceful solution based on the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international legitimacy resolutions and reaching a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. " Al-Jubeir added that the meeting also stressed the importance of supporting UNRWA in providing education, food and other humanitarian assistance to Palestinian students in refugee camps and refugee students. He added that The Ministerial Council affirmed its strong rejection and condemnation of Iran's negative interference in the affairs of the countries of the region and the importance of confronting these interventions and igniting sectarian strife and its support for terrorism, whether through the terrorist Hezbollah in Lebanon or the Iranian Houthi terrorist militias in Yemen and other terrorist organizations in Bahrain. The Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that the Ministerial Council denounced Iranian delivery to the Houthi terrorist militias of the ballistic missiles that they used to launch on the cities and villages in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, pointing out that one of these missiles targeted the Muslims' qibla, and this was denounced by the Arab and Islamic world as a whole. Adel Al-Jubeir explained that the Ministerial Council also discussed the Libyan and Syrian issues, in addition to discussing the reforms in the Arab League. He pointed out that the committee was entrusted with the termination of its work on some subjects within a specific period of time. "I think in general that the meeting was positive and the presidency of the Ministerial Council was handed over from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the brotherly Republic of Sudan. We look forward to working with the presidency of the new Council in matters that concern the Arab countries and the Arab people," he said. On the upcoming Arab meetings in New York, he said that "there are always meetings of coordination and consultation among Arab foreign ministers before the start of the General Assembly of the United Nations, in order to coordinate Arab positions." On the meeting of the Committee on Iranian Interventions, the Foreign Minister said in response to journalists' questions that the committee on Iran's negative interference in the affairs of the region has been meeting on the sidelines of every ministerial meeting at the Arab League since the establishment of this committee and reviewing the violations committed by Iran in the Arab world. Review is also made of what members of the committee do to communicate with countries to highlight evidence and gather other evidence, and to communicate with international organizations and the media to highlight Iranian violations that must be addressed in the Arab world. In response to a question on the possibility of a strong and influential Arab response to the Huthis to end the bullying of the Iranian-Huthi to Arab capitals, including Riyadh, which was targeted by many missile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said, "Without doubt, what you called as the Houthi-Iranian bullying behind is behind the continuation of the conflict in Yemen. The Houthis has not responded to any efforts to reach a peaceful solution based on the three references, the Gulf Initiative, the outputs of the Yemeni national dialogue and Security Council resolution 2216," stressing that the Houthis will not respond to the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Martin Griffith. This is evidenced by their failure to attend the recent Geneva meeting. "We seek the good of Yemen as a country and people, as well as continue to support the brotherly Yemeni people by all possible means, as well as continue to confront the Iranian-backed Houthi aggression and restore legitimacy in Yemen," he said. --SPA 00:00 LOCAL TIME 21:00 GMT 0049 www.spa.gov.sa/w747737
