Moscow , Jumada II 19, 1439, Mar 7, 2018, SPA -- Six people died Wednesday when a Russian border service helicopter crashed in foggy weather in the southern region of Chechnya, about 8 kilometres from the Georgian border, state media reported. Reports conflicted about the number of survivors. State news agency TASS said in various reports that either one or two people survived. Another state agency, RIA Novosti, reported there was one survivor. The helicopter, a Mi-8, is reported to have crashed after its blades grazed a rock formation during a landing attempt in a rural area about a kilometre and a half from a border guard station. The Soviet-designed Mi-8, medium-sized with two turbines, is one of the most produced helicopters in the world. Since the beginning of 2015, Mi-8 helicopters have crashed 10 times in Russia, claiming the lives of 59 people, not counting Wednesday's crash, TASS reported. --SPA 17:00 LOCAL TIME 14:00 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w635826
