London, Rabi'I 17, 1437, December 28, 2015, SPA -- British Premier David Cameron was expected to visit areas of northern England hit this month by floods, the Press Association reported Monday, as further heavy rain was forecast this week, dpa reported. Rivers in York, Leeds and Manchester have burst their banks, and military personnel have been deployed to help out. West Yorkshire Police said it was the "worst flooding in 70 years" in the area. Cameron said investment in flood defences would continue and praised the emergency services for their efforts. The Environment Agency has issued 24 severe flood warnings - meaning there is a threat to life - for the North East and another three for the North West. Almost 200 other flood warnings are in force in the north of England as well as the Midlands and parts of Wales. Thousands of homes were without power in northern England, the report said. --SPA 10:13 LOCAL TIME 07:13 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
