Riyadh, February 17, 2022, SPA -- The Speaker of Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, said the decisive stances of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, gave a positive impetus to the Joint Arab action, stressing that these efforts were embodied in practical steps to support all Arab countries. This came during a speech he delivered at the opening session of the 32nd Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, which kicked off today in Cairo, with the participation of heads of legislative councils and parliaments in Arab countries and Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Al-Sheikh reiterated the Kingdom’s rejection and condemnation of the attacks launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the international shipping movement in the Red Sea, which aim at destabilizing the region’s security and stability, stressing that the Kingdom is keen to achieve security and stability in Yemen and to end the human suffering of the Yemeni people. The Speaker affirmed the Kingdom’s initiative to end the conflict in Yemen and support the international efforts to reach a political solution per the three references: “the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216,” hailing the efforts exerted by the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen to ward off the threat from the region. Al Al-Sheikh drew attention to the Kingdom's keenness to play its humanitarian role by providing aid and assistance to alleviate the suffering of Arab citizens in their ordeals and crises. He underlined the Kingdom's emphasis on the security and stability of the region and its condemnation of Iran's aggressive policies, asserting that the Kingdom supports international efforts to prevent Iranian possession of nuclear weapons. During the conference, Al Al-Sheikh also stressed that the Palestinian cause remains a central and stable issue for the Kingdom, and at the forefront of its concerns.
