Saudi Women Proceed with Ambition and Empowerment within the Framework of Vision 2030 2 Riyadh

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has emerged at the global arena with efficiencies of Saudi women in the past few years by appointing the first Saudi envoy, Dr. Thoraya Obaid in a high ranking position as the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund where she managed it actively and efficiently gaining her compliment of the organization and its staff. Nowadays, we witness efficiency of Saudi woman in serving their country by appointing the first female ambassador of the Kingdom, HRH Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, to the United States of America at the rank of a minister. Thus, she became an embodiment of the trust of the leadership in Saudi women's potential, capabilities and giving in all fields in light of empowerment of the nation's women socially, economically, politically, and culturally to assume many roles waiting for them in accordance with controls of Islamic Sharia as well the genuine Saudi Arabian customs and traditions. Mrs. Nora Al-Shabaan, member of Shuran Council, in an interview with SPA, said: Our country the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has witnessed a comprehensive range of reforms, development and rise towards promising future following the steps of the Founder King, may Allah rest his soul, reaching up to the Vision 2030 which included, along with the National Transformation Program of 2020, encourage of full participation of women in labor market, developing their talents, investment of their energies, their empowerment to get suitable opportunities to build their future and contribute to the development of their society and economy of their country. It also focused on allocating the women a large share of empowerment and fairness to support their role at all levels. She added: We, the women of the Kingdom, are still looking forward to more opportunities and fill leadership positions in the public and private sectors in the process of development towards an integrated society and such opportunities will come in the due time. Al-Shabaan indicated that the International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8 every year, was a special and inspiring event to Saudi women to promote their status and effective role both nationally and in the world and to remember their efforts in history of the nation. Their ambition became limitless and their trust in their potential with the support of the leaders who realize that they are creators of generation, peace, change, and building of the future. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, may Allah protect him, was keen on that the women should work in a safe environment so he promulgated the Law of Anti Harassment. The Human Rights Commission hailed enactment of this law and its importance in maintaining privacy and dignity of the individuals which are guaranteed by the provisions of Islamic law and regulations. This, in turn, encouraged women to a wider participation and opened new horizons for them where the Saudi women could achieve astonishing excel and success in various fields and they provided many patents, accomplishments, scientific researches, health care and educational services. They could also represent their county in the world with their diplomatic and parliamentary role that started to emerge in different dialog events and their contribution through their work within delegations to regional and international conferences and forums and their winning of more than 17 seats among ministries, Shura Council, municipal councils, chambers of commerce, universities and some embassies, consulates and missions of the Kingdom. Al-Shabaan also highlighted that the steps of the Saudi women are constantly accelerated inside and outside the country where the government paid utmost attention to the graduated envoys specializing in tourism and their role was activated in tourism projects, the last of which held in the Governorate of Al Ula, “Winter at Tantora” festival. Woman sections are also introduced in the army such as: passports and prisons as well as in civil defense and lastly in traffic in addition to the large support of women sports club through which Saudi women exercise sport, climb mountains, and dive in seas. She assured that the process of empowerment of women has not come to an end yet and that 15% of the traditional positions shall vanish and that 65% of primary stage students after graduation from universities shall fill new positions in growing projects such as Al-Qiddiya and NEOM, etc. side by side with the men in efforts of development and boosting the country after which the generations shall continue the process of giving. --More 13:58 LOCAL TIME 10:58 GMT 0009 www.spa.gov.sa/w1092790
