SR10,000 Fine for Not Holding Umrah Permit during Holy Month of Ramadan, Ministry of Interior Warns

Riyadh, Apr. 08, 2021, SPA -- An official source at the Ministry of Interior announced that in implementation of precautionary measures and preventive measures to confront and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to ensure commitment to applying the approved preventive regulation for performing Umrah, in line with the safe operational capacity in all sites in the holy site of Makkah (Al-Haram Al-Makki) and its squares, it has been decided that whoever found attempting to perform Umrah during the Holy Month of Ramadan without holding an official permit will be subject to a SR10,000 fine and whoever caught attempting to enter into the holy site of Makkah (Al-Haram Al-Makki) to pray without holding a permit will be subject to a SR1,000 fine. This penalty will be implemented until the pandemic is over and public life returns to normal.
