Permanent Delegates Committee of OIC Holds anti-COVID-19 Follow-up Meeting

Jeddah, October 26, 2020, SPA -- The the permanent delegates committee, an affiliate of Jeddah-based General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held today an extraordinary meeting scheduled to follow up on the outcomes of the final statement issued by the Executive Committee of the OIC Member States at the level of foreign ministers, which was held on 22nd of April 22nd, 2020. Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Yusef bin Mohammad Al-Dabaie stated that the OIC has, since the beginning of the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, affirmed its principled position in support of the efforts and initiatives of member states, as well as all national precautionary measures taken by them, including those related to religious rites, which have emerged successfully through the measures taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the last Hajj season. Al-Dabiei reviewed the efforts of OIC and its agencies to contain the negative effects of the COVID-19, in various health, educational and social sectors, in addition to the initiatives and assistance provided by OIC's institutions and financing agencies, such as the Islamic Development Bank, to respond quickly by allocating financial resources to member states to contain the negative effects of Covid-19. --SPA 18:38 LOCAL TIME 15:38 GMT 0016 www.spa.gov.sa/w1436464
