Cairo, April 09, 2020, SPA – The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed an announcement by the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen under the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, enforcing an extendable two-week comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen in order to confront the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). In a statement issued today, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry appreciated the initiative, stressing the importance of holding meetings between the legitimate government and the Houthi militias with the aim of discussing steps and mechanisms to implement a permanent ceasefire in Yemen and resuming the political process in order to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
