Jeddah, April 09, 2020, SPA -- Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, welcomed the statement issued by the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, announcing an extendable two-week ceasefire throughout Yemen starting today. In a statement, Al-Othaimeen said that the Joint Forces Command’s announcement of the ceasefire is a noble humanitarian initiative. It comes at a critical juncture as Yemen is going through to enable it to face the challenges posed by the spread of the novel Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). He further commended the coalition's announcement of its seriousness and willingness to create appropriate conditions for engaging political efforts and ensuring their success, while alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
