New York, May 24, 2019, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities by taking a firm stand against the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militias after targeting vital populated areas in the Kingdom using ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, which is a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law and relevant Security Council resolutions. This came in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's speech today at the UN Security Council in a session on "Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict", which was delivered by the Acting Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Dr. Khaled Manzlawiy. Dr. Manzlawiy said that since this year marks the twentieth anniversary of the Security Council's adoption of its resolution 1265, "Protecting Civilians in Armed Conflict", the Kingdom is constantly urging the international community to adopt a unified and comprehensive approach to protect and keep civilians away from armed conflicts. --SPA 11:50 LOCAL TIME 08:50 GMT 0003 www.spa.gov.sa/w1107740
