Washington, Jumada II 15, 1439, March 03, 2018, SPA -- More than 3,000 flights to and from the United States had been cancelled on Friday, a flight tracking website reported, as a fierce winter storm battered the country's north-east. The so-called "nor-easter" storm brought hurricane-force winds with speeds of up to 129 kilometers per hour, the National Weather Service said, referring to it as a storm "we will never forget." "A significant coastal storm is bringing major coastal flooding, beach erosion, and strong to damaging winds across much of the Middle Atlantic and New England," the service added. American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue and other major airlines announced cancellations and said their customers could change flights free of charge to avoid cancellations and delays. The storm also resulted in power cuts from nearly 900,000 customers, demolished trees, destroyed properties and derailed road traffic, with meteorological authorities warning from still fierce winds that might proceed well into Saturday. --SPA 03:42 LOCAL TIME 00:42 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w631491
