Egypt, Malaysia Coordinate on Combating Terrorism

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have stressed in a video call the significance of continuing coordination and consultation in international forums to help address various issues, including combating terrorism and extremism. They shared their visions on the most prominent regional and international issues of common interest and ways to achieve security and stability in the Middle East and the world, in light of major challenges. The Malaysian PM praised Egypt's key role in combating terrorism and extremism, pointing to the great value of Al-Azhar and moderate Islamic institutions in Egypt, according to Ahmed Fahmy, spokesman for the Egyptian presidency. The spokesman said the video call discussed ways to promote cooperation between the two countries, in light of their historical ties and distinguished bilateral relations. The discussion touched on cooperation efforts in culture, tourism, and education. Moreover, they discussed strengthening economic ties and trade exchange and increasing joint investments in energy, communications and information technology, the automotive industry, and other areas that contribute to optimizing the comparative advantages of each country and achieving economic integration and comprehensive development.
