Nepal's former Premier Deuba given two-year sentence

Kathmandu, July 26, SPA -- An anti-corruption commissionTuesday found former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deubaguilty of embezzlement and sentenced him to two years inprison, officials say. Deuba was sacked in February following accusations thathis administration misused 370 million rupees (US$5.3million; ¤4.4 million) from a road construction project. Chief Commissioner Bhakta Bahadur Koirala read out theverdict, saying Deuba has also been fined 45 million rupees(US$642,800, ¤532,700).
